Happy New Year and Welcome back!
My big intention for 2025? (resolutions feel too heavy this year, I want to travel light).
To talk as kindly to myself as I do to friends and clients. I got a bit tough on myself as the pressure hit in the autumn.
So, as the green shoots of a new year start to take root under our feet, I’m channelling Bruce Lee who said, “Don't speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy, and they cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”
We always teach what we need and the irony is that I always pick up on negative speak in my work. Whenever clients say things like “I always feel so anxious before public speaking."
I’m a stickler for reminding them to rephrase the always as “I used to be so anxious before public speaking.”
Why?
Because I know that our words create our reality.
Because I know that Abracadabra means “I create as I speak.”
Because I know that when there’s an “I’m so…lazy/workaholic/fat/thin phrase that always crops up, whatever mean thing you say about yourself, if you say it enough it becomes true.
I’m going to practise what I preach.
I’m going to replace the bad habit describing “I always..” phrases with “I used to…” and I’m going to be curious about the effect of a little powerful piece of self hypnosis. It’s going to be all about a practical little bit of Pollyanna this January.
All my best,
Caroline. x
